The former Blue Lagoon Fiji vessel has been operating in the Maldives for several years and has apparently come to the end of its journey.
Deep Blue Dive Center, which operates out of the capital, Male, owns and operates the ship, which is no longer profitable in this region.
After careful consideration and numerous attempts to sustain our operations, we have made the difficult decision to cease Yasawa Princess cruising operations from May 2025 onwards," wrote MD Ismail Faisal to his agents and partners in August, "This decision comes after much deliberation and consideration of several factors affecting our operations. For quite some time, Yasawa Princess has been operating at a loss despite our best efforts to keep it afloat and honor our commitment to our regular customers."
"Yasawa Princess has always been an affordable option for small ship cruising in the Maldives," said Australian agent, Andrew Castles, MD of Expedition Cruise Specialists. "We will still be offering cruises right up until the last minute."
