Last night, Coral Expeditions celebrated the official launch of its fourth and largest expedition ship, Coral Adventurer.

Coral Expeditions’ senior management, key stakeholders and global media guests joined on board to officiate the christening of the newest addition to Coral Expeditions’ Australian fleet of expedition ships. Mrs Quek Peck Lim was named godmother of the new vessel and blessed her launch.

MAJOR MILESTONE SET FOR LINDBLAD EXPEDITIONS AS NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC ENDURANCE ARRIVES AT ULSTEIN VERFT IN NORWAY

Today marked a major milestone for Lindblad Expeditions as the hull of National Geographic Endurance, the world's most advanced polar expedition ship and the first polar build in the history of Lindblad Expeditions, arrived in Ulsteinvik, Norway after traveling nearly six days from Gydnia, Poland where construction of the main hull steel work was completed. The ship arrived under tow with 100% of structure steel and major foundation work having been competed at Crist S.A.

The ship currently has all bow thruster and major HVAC equipment installed. The main engines, generators, stabilizers, cranes and other essential equipment will be installed in dry dock at Ulstein Shipyard, along with the completed piping, electrical and hotel outfitting.

The last two steel blocks on the housetop which make up the ships masts will be erected later in the construction stage as air space becomes available at Ulstein Shipayrd. The ship is scheduled to be delivered at the end of January 2020.

Lindblad recently announced an agreement with Ulstein on the design and construction of a second polar vessel, due for delivery in 2021.

Pinault donates AUD$158 million to rebuild fire-ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral

Most of us watched the morning news with dismay, seeing a burning inferno of that iconic symbol of the City of Lights, Notre-Dame.

While the UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral was still burning, President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron committed to immediate rebuilding and refurbishment, and implementation of an international fundraising campaign.

Within hours, François-Henri Pinault, chairman of the Kering Group and Chairman of Artemis - the holding company that controls the assets of the Pinault family (which includes the luxury cruise company PONANT as well as brands Gucci, Yves St Laurent and Alexander McQueen) - pledged 100 million Euros towards the rebuild.

Pinault is the chairman and CEO of the Kering group, which owns such brands as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen. He is also president chairman of Artemis, the holding company that controls the assets of the Pinault family.

Coming from family funds this is, to my mind, a most extraordinary gesture.
