Departing Tromsø, Norway on 11 June 2016, Silver Explorer begins her roundtrip voyage with a visit to the Gjesværstappan Islands, where guests can venture out on Zodiacs to catch a glimpse of the numerous seabird colonies. Travellers can expect to see Razorbills and the majestic White-tailed Eagle, which reside in the quaint two square kilometre nature reserve of the island. Guests then travel to Murmansk, a unique destination located halfway between Moscow and the North Pole, before porting at the Sem Islands. Led by Silversea's expert Expedition Team, guests can take advantage of the long daylight hours and explore the spellbinding scenery of the islands, learning about the unique wildlife native to this remote area along the way.
This expedition continues south, cruising along the Kanin Peninsula's coast, porting at the traditional Russian fishing villages of Shoina, Pyalitsa and Chapoma, before sailing through the seldom-seen archipelago of the Solovetskiy Islands, where guests can visit the Solovetskiy Monastery, a well preserved medieval fortress, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Venturing further into the depths of Russia's isolated regions, guests can watch for Beluga whales or delve into the fascinating history and ancient Russian culture with onboard lecturers, as Silver Explorer sails to Arkhangelsk, Morzhovets Island and Kirkenes.
Anchoring off the shores of Skarsvag, guests can admire the picturesque scenery and panoramic views, or, for more adventurous travellers, guests can join members of the Expedition Team for a challenging hike to Nordkapp, retracing the traditional route to the cape. This voyage concludes on 23 June 2016, with guests disembarking in Tromsø, Norway.
