Cruising is a consuming passion - NG Orion

Just learned from our hotel manager, Tracy Greiner, about some of our consumption habits aboard National Geographic Orion since we left Fiji on 18 November.

  • 3000 eggs
  • 520 lbs potatoes
  • 1300 toilet rolls
  • 320 litres ice cream
  • 300+ lbs of beef
  • 520 bottles of wine
  • 500 beers
  • 1540 cans soda
  • 2500 baked cookies

and from the engine room

The ship has burned 150 tonnes of diesel travelling 3100 NM

The ship uses up to 50 tonnes of water per day, most of which is in the cabins. An estimated 20% is used in the galley and laundry. The water maker on board can produce up to 100 tonnes.
