Silversea is preparing to set sail on its first specialised photo Expedition voyage on board Silver Discoverer, departing 31 July, 2014.  With only two exclusive photography itineraries, the first unique, round trip voyage will depart from Nome, USA, exploring the remote Russian Far East.  The second photography expedition departs Dunedin, New Zealand, on 22 December, 2014, visiting New Zealand's Sub-Antarctic islands, some of the world's greatest biodiversity 'hotspots'.

Led by award-winning photographer, David Wright, guests on board the photography voyages will embark on a memorable journey throughout these remote parts of the world.

Karen Christensen, General Manager & Director of Sales/Marketing, Australasia, says Silversea is pleased to offer guests this rare opportunity on board Silver Discoverer.

"Our Expeditions team strive to create fascinating voyages that offer unlimited photographic opportunities. Having a renowned photography expert like David Wright on board two of our upcoming voyages will no doubt enhance our guests' on board experience," says Christensen.

Embarking on one of the world's great journeys through the Russian Far East, guests will visit Kamchatka, a geothermal wonderland and home to the giant brown bear, volcanoes and geysers.  Guests will also be on the lookout for a myriad of wildlife including spouting whales, frolicking seals and a huge population of nesting and migratory seabirds.

Silver Discoverer's New Zealand voyage will also offer plenty of photo opportunities with guests visiting a number of the country's Sub-Antarctic Islands with protected reserves that are home to 126 species of birds including the wandering albatross and 17 species of penguins such as the Yellow-eyed penguin.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Wright has been awarded with an Emmy and BAFTA for his work, and has also worked with the BBC, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel.

"David's extensive knowledge and experience will provide guests with expert tips on image composition as well as assisting guests with camera settings to ensure the best possible image is captured," says Christensen.
